SEREMBAN July 20,2026 – The main operations room of Pakatan Harapan (PH) has received several reports of damage to campaign materials in a number of constituencies in Negeri Sembilan.
According to a media statement issued today by the Jabatan Pilihan Raya Pakatan Harapan, the incidents involved a flag that was burned in N06 Dun Palong last night and flag poles that were damaged through acts of sabotage in N31 Dun Chembong this morning. Photographs of the damaged materials — showing burned and toppled red HARAPAN flags and banners by the roadside — were provided with the statement.
PH stated that it reserves the right to take legal action under Section 4A of the Election Offences Act 1954 as well as Section 427 of the Penal Code (for committing mischief) if it is proven that election campaign materials such as posters, flags or banners were sabotaged, damaged or taken down by opponents, as such acts of sabotage constitute an offence.
The directors of the relevant DUN operations rooms have been advised to lodge the appropriate reports. However, the coalition emphasised that it has no intention of pointing fingers at any party at this stage.
“We call on all sides not to allow such incidents to become a culture among political activists in this country. We also hope that all HARAPAN members and machinery will not retaliate against these acts, which may have been carried out by parties seeking to worsen the situation,” the statement said.
PH urged healthy campaigning, noting that the right to engage in politics and campaign is protected under the Federal Constitution of Malaysia through provisions on fundamental liberties (Part II) and other basic political rights.
“Win the hearts of the people and voters with clear policies, not with baseless hate politics of sabotage,” the statement concluded.
The statement was issued by the Secretariat of the Pusat Media Pilihan Raya Negeri Sembilan Ke-16, Pakatan Harapan.
