LONDON, November 7, 2026 — Rodrigo Muniz struck three minutes after Jacob Murphy’s spectacular opener as Fulham and Newcastle United drew 1-1 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
The Premier League confirmed the result on X, saying the points were shared. Sky Sports noted that it was the first Premier League draw between the two sides in London.
Fulham, under Alvaro Arbeloa, had the better of the early chances. Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek turned away a curling effort from Oscar Bobb, and Gonzalo Garcia headed over from the resulting corner.
Newcastle’s best first-half opportunities fell to Harvey Barnes, who was twice denied by Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno. From the corner that followed, Dan Burn turned the ball into the net against his former club, but the goal was ruled out for a foul by Yoane Wissa in the build-up. Hornicek also kept out a Josh King volley before half-time.
The match appeared to be heading for a goalless draw until the 80th minute, when Murphy pounced on a loose Fulham pass, ran at the defence and curled an unstoppable shot into the far corner. According to BBC Sport, it was his first Premier League goal in 19 games and his first ever left-footed goal in the competition.
Newcastle’s lead lasted only three minutes. A Fulham pass deflected into the path of substitute Muniz, who had come on in the 65th minute, and he flicked the ball home with the outside of his boot for his first Premier League goal in seven months.
Hornicek then preserved the point for the visitors with a flying stoppage-time save from a Ryan Sessegnon half-volley.
Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle, who was shown a yellow card during the match, called the result “a step in the right direction after the last performance” in comments to BBC Match of the Day. “A brilliant goal and, in general, a great performance,” he said of Murphy, adding that his side had chances to win the game.
