PUTRAJAYA, 10 October 2026 – The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has welcomed and appreciated the announcement of the People’s Budget 2027 by the Prime Minister involving the ministry, departments and agencies under its purview.
Budget 2027, themed “Madani Budget: Reaching for the Sky, Rooted in the Ground”, allocates a total of RM22 billion to KDN, marking an increase of RM800 million or 3.78 per cent compared to RM21.18 billion in Budget 2026. The increase reflects the important role of KDN as a catalyst for the MADANI Economy framework in the context of strengthening national unity and security.
Key focuses include strengthening border control and international entry points, addressing cyber and sexual crimes, and safeguarding the welfare of enforcement personnel. The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) receives attention through the creation of new activities under Programme 3: Management of Registration, Immigration, Border Control and Entry Points, with a total allocation of RM490 million.
Among the main details stated by KDN:
- The National Fraud Response Centre will develop an AI application that allows the public to check phone numbers, bank accounts and suspicious links, in addition to providing quick reporting facilities and data integration to speed up the detection of online fraud attempts.
- PDRM’s D11 Division is enhancing the Malaysia Internet Crime Against Children (MICAC) System with AI capabilities, advanced analytics and information processing to generate early warnings on threats and high-risk cases of child sexual exploitation.
- Part of the RM7.1 billion is allocated for the purchase and maintenance of police and uniformed body assets under KDN. New facilities to be built include the State Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) Headquarters in Tanjung Kupang, Johor; the 19th Battalion PGA Complex in Cheras; the Immigration Office in Keningau, Sabah; and three police stations in Sungai Rambai (Melaka), Tanjung Malim (Perak) and Batu Lintang, Sri Aman (Sarawak).
- Part of RM65 million is provided to utilise retired police personnel involved in protecting the country’s biodiversity treasures.
- A total of 48 new body and baggage scanners will be installed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Penang and Kota Kinabalu to strengthen AKPS operations.
- An allocation of RM1.1 billion to enhance the capabilities of enforcement bodies including PDRM.
- An increase in duty allowance to RM9 per hour for volunteer personnel including RELA members and police volunteers.
KDN stated that the allocation demonstrates the ministry’s approach of adapting AI applications while taking into account prevention and early warning elements in enforcement operations. Outcome-based implementation will be prioritised to ensure every allocation translates into enhanced capabilities and tangible benefits for the people.
“KDN records its appreciation for the attention and priority given by the Government to aspects of national security through Budget 2027. The approval of this allocation will be fully utilised to strengthen the readiness of KDN and its agencies,” the ministry said in a statement.
KDN remains committed to ensuring Malaysia continues to be peaceful, safe and prosperous through effective enforcement, optimal use of technology and public involvement as strategic partners.
