JOHOR BAHRU June 12, 2026 – Malaysia’s Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced he will be in Johor Bahru on Saturday, 13 June 2026, to attend a series of public engagement programmes involving anti-drug efforts, NGOs, immigration services, and election machinery.
In a social media post on Friday, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general detailed his full-day schedule aimed at strengthening community ties and government outreach in the state.
Full Schedule of Activities:
- 11:00 AM — Official launch of the Program Jelajah Aspirasi Bebas Dadah (JABD) / Anti-Drug Aspirations Tour.
- 3:00 PM — Townhall session with MADANI NGOs at the state level.
- 4:40 PM — Inauguration of Baitul Mahabbah, the Immigration Department of Malaysia’s Johor shelter facility.
- 8:30 PM — Launch of the election machinery for the DUN Bukit Batu state constituency.
The poster accompanying the announcement features the minister against a backdrop of the Malaysian flag and Johor Bahru’s skyline, under the Malaysia MADANI banner.

Saifuddin emphasised the importance of active community participation, stating: “I believe the strength of the nation is not only built through policies and institutions, but also through active societal involvement, community cooperation, and a spirit of togetherness in achieving national development agendas.” He invited Johor residents to join the events.
The visit comes as Johor prepares for state elections, which must be held by 31 July 2026. Saifuddin, who also serves as PH secretary-general, has been actively involved in seat allocations for the coalition ahead of the polls. Recent reports indicate PH has finalised candidate allocations for all 56 seats, pending final approval.
Baitul Mahabbah centres are part of the Home Ministry’s initiatives to provide temporary shelter for vulnerable groups, including children of immigration detainees, moving them from detention depots to more humane facilities.
The programmes align with the MADANI government’s focus on community engagement, anti-drug campaigns, and efficient immigration management.
This marks another on-the-ground engagement by the minister in Johor, where PH and the unity government are ramping up preparations ahead of the state polls.
