AUSTIN — Formula 1 has turned the spotlight on the celebrity side of the United States Grand Prix, sharing a set of star-studded photographs from the Circuit of The Americas days before the sport returns to Texas.
The official Formula 1 X account posted four images on Tuesday (Oct 20) with the caption: “Bringing a little Hollywood sparkle to Austin 🤠”, alongside the hashtags #F1 and #USGP. The post did not name the guests pictured.
The photographs show a guest in a cowboy hat, tinted glasses and a tan leather jacket applauding in front of a packed grandstand, another relaxing in a team area while wearing a paddock lanyard, a third walking through the paddock past a hedge wall, and a fourth posing in a Red Bull Racing race suit in a corridor lit in the team’s colours.
Austin has drawn famous faces since the circuit first hosted Formula 1 in 2012, when, according to The Hollywood Reporter, directors George Lucas and Ron Howard were among those in attendance. A year later, Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith, Val Kilmer, Gerard Butler and Sting were on the starting grid as Sebastian Vettel claimed a record eighth consecutive victory. In 2014, Keanu Reeves, Pamela Anderson and Friends star Matt LeBlanc were at the race as Lewis Hamilton took his 10th win of the season.
In 2022, Brad Pitt was a regular presence in the paddock as he researched the Formula 1 film later produced with Lewis Hamilton, meeting Formula 1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali and several team principals to discuss filming during real race weekends, Page Six reported. He was joined in Austin by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski. Shaquille O’Neal, Ed Sheeran and members of Green Day were also spotted on the grid that year.
Last season, Texan actors Glen Powell and Matthew McConaughey spent much of the weekend trackside, according to Formula 1, while Chace Crawford spent time with Red Bull and Adele visited the Mercedes garage. Country star Shaboozey waved the chequered flag at the end of the race, and Olympic swimmer Léon Marchand and decathlon world champion Leo Neugebauer were among the athletes in the paddock, while track and field couple Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall presented the Sprint trophies.
Entertainment will again be a major part of this year’s event. Maroon 5 are scheduled to headline on Friday, Post Malone on Saturday and Alesso after the race on Sunday, according to event guides for the weekend. Each race ticket includes access to all three shows, with the Alesso set listed for 5.30pm local time on Sunday.
There is plenty of drama on track, too. Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli leads the 2026 drivers’ standings on 340 points, 102 ahead of team-mate George Russell, and can become the youngest world champion in the sport’s history on Sunday if he wins the race, with Russell ninth or lower and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton fifth or lower.
The United States Grand Prix runs from Oct 23 to 25, with the 56-lap race starting at 3pm local time on Sunday, which is 4am on Monday (Oct 26) in Malaysia. The original Formula 1 post can be viewed on X: https://x.com/F1/status/2112622881725170021.
