PUTRAJAYA, Aug 6 2026 — Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today launched a new book titled Menjulang Desa, Menggalas Amanah Negara during the monthly assembly of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW).
The launch took place at Dewan Seri Lestari in Putrajaya as part of the ministry’s August 2026 monthly gathering, attended by Deputy Minister Datuk Hajah Rubiah Wang and senior ministry officials.
Zahid, who also serves as Rural and Regional Development Minister, said the book draws directly from his experiences leading the ministry. It records ideas, policies and efforts aimed at developing rural areas and empowering rural communities.
“This is not merely a collection of official speeches, but a compilation of ideas, policies and actions that form the agenda for transforming rural Malaysia amid increasingly complex challenges,” he stated in a post on X.
The volume is structured around eight main themes covering governance, development, education, the economy, social justice, agency empowerment and diplomacy. Each chapter illustrates how policies are translated into action and the impact those actions have on people’s lives.
Zahid emphasised that the book elevates the status of rural areas — not as peripheral zones of development, but as spaces with significant potential to drive economic growth, social mobility and national progress.
“Behind every policy and programme lie human stories, community aspirations and continuous efforts to ensure no one is left behind in the nation’s development,” he said.
He expressed hope that the book would serve as a reference for policymakers, civil servants, community leaders, students and anyone seeking to understand that Malaysia’s future is built not only in major cities but also begins in empowered and prosperous rural communities.
The monthly assembly also featured performances by agencies including KEJORA and PERDA, the launch of PERDA’s Strategic Plan 2026-2030, and the official start of National Month celebrations at the ministry level with the raising of the Jalur Gemilang.
Zahid reiterated his longstanding conviction that rural areas and the countryside can serve as engines of economic growth, talent development and national advancement.
