In an official statement issued today, DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook said the party will continue to uphold the principle of Constitutional Monarchy as enshrined in the Federal Constitution and the Undang-undang Tubuh Negeri Sembilan 1959.
“DAP will always respect and uphold the principle of Raja Berperlembagaan,” the statement read.
Loke, who is also DAP Negeri Sembilan Chairman and ADUN Chennah, stressed that the party fully respects the unique Adat Pepatih customs and the special position and powers of the Undang Yang Empat in appointing or removing the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar.
“However, any action to dethrone the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar must follow the orderly principles and processes as provided under Article X(1) of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution,” he added.
The statement emphasised that the sovereignty and dignity of the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar as the symbol of the Head of State must be protected at all times.
“No party should be allowed to belittle, humiliate or disgrace His Royal Highness the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan,” it said.
On the political front, DAP announced that all 11 of its state assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan will continue to give their undivided support to YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Aminuddin Harun as Menteri Besar.
The party reaffirmed its backing for the current state government, which received its mandate from the people in the 2023 State Election.
“DAP will reject any effort to establish a Kerajaan Tebuk Atap (backdoor government) in Negeri Sembilan,” the statement declared.
Loke added that DAP will continue to support all policies and programmes of the state government as usual, with all its ADUNs remaining focused on serving the rakyat without any disruption.
The strong position comes amid the ongoing political crisis in Negeri Sembilan involving the state’s constitutional monarchy institution, which comprises the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar, the Four Undangs and the Tunku Besar Tampin.
