PUTRAJAYA April 22, 2026 – Five months after the fatal police shooting of three men in Durian Tunggal, Melaka, Democratic Action Party (DAP) National Chairman Gobind Singh Deo has called on the Attorney-General (AG) to provide an immediate and transparent update on the status of investigations.
In a strongly worded press statement released today, Gobind urged the AG to publicly explain the current stage of the probe and state whether any action will be taken against individuals involved – and if so, when.
“It has been about five months since the incident occurred. Despite the passage of time, there appears to be a lack of definitive action taken against any individuals involved,” the statement read.
Gobind, who is also the Member of Parliament for Damansara and Minister of Digital, stressed that the gravity of the case cannot be overstated. Serious allegations have surfaced, supported by evidence including audio recordings submitted by the families of the victims.
“This is a matter of public interest. The public have a right to know what actually happened and the families of the victims are entitled to answers and justice,” he added.
The incident took place on November 24, 2025, at an oil palm plantation in Durian Tunggal, Melaka. Police reported that three men – M. Puspanathan (21), T. Poovaneswaran (24), and G. Logeswaran (29) – were shot dead after one of them allegedly attacked officers with a machete during an attempted apprehension. Authorities identified the men as suspected members of the so-called “Durian Tunggal Gang,” linked to multiple armed robbery cases.
However, the victims’ families have disputed the police account, claiming forensic evidence and an audio recording suggest circumstances different from the official version. The case was later reclassified as a murder investigation by the Attorney-General’s Chambers, and the officers involved were removed from active duty pending inquiries.
Gobind’s call comes amid ongoing public scrutiny and demands for accountability in the high-profile case.
“I call upon the AG to therefore explain the current stage of the investigations and to state publicly whether any action will be taken against any person involved and if so when,” he concluded.
