JOHOR June 28, 2026 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Democratic Action Party (DAP) National Chairman Gobind Singh Deo launched the Main Operations Centre (POU) for the N50 Bukit Permai state constituency on Saturday night.
The centre will serve as the base for DAP’s candidate, 33-year-old Mohamad Shafwan bin Ani, to showcase leadership and commitment to serving the people of Johor during the ongoing campaign for the 16th Johor state election.
Speaking at the launch, Gobind urged voters in Johor to give DAP and PH a strong mandate so the coalition can continue driving economic transformation, resolve local issues, and ensure federal funding continues to support the state’s progress, peace, and prosperity.
“This is an opportunity for the people of Johor to exercise their power and their voice, and Pakatan Harapan is ready to give our very best to all of you,” Gobind said in both Malay and English statements shared on social media.
The Johor state election campaign is in full swing following nomination day on June 27. A total of 172 candidates are contesting all 56 seats, with polling scheduled for July 11, 2026.
PH is fielding a full slate of 56 candidates, matching Barisan Nasional (BN). The election features contests involving PH (including DAP, PKR, and Amanah), BN (UMNO, MCA, MIC), Perikatan Nasional, and newcomer Parti Bersama Malaysia.
Bukit Permai (N50) is among the seats drawing attention, with DAP banking on its young candidate Mohamad Shafwan Ani, who has nine years of community service experience, to secure the seat.
The launch reflects DAP’s grassroots mobilisation efforts as the campaign period runs until July 10.
Gobind, who is also Malaysia’s Minister of Digital and Member of Parliament for Damansara, has been actively supporting PH candidates in the southern state. The event included multiple photographs of the operations centre launch and campaign activities under hashtags such as #PRNJohor, #UndiHARAPAN, and #JohorKeDepan.
The Johor election is seen as an important test for political coalitions ahead of the next general election.
