SEREMBAN, June 13, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised the need for patience, wisdom, and national unity across racial and religious lines while launching Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) election machinery for the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state polls last night.
In his speech, Anwar highlighted that building a nation or civilisation demands high levels of patience, wisdom, and strong commitment, while cautioning against hasty actions or divisive politics.
“History teaches us that building a country requires great patience, wisdom, avoiding haste, and having firm resolve. However, destroying it is easy — by inciting hatred, widening differences, and allowing arrogance to flourish,” he said.
Anwar stressed that Malaysia was not built on hatred between races or religions, but through the efforts of past generations to find common ground in diversity and collectively uplift the nation.
“We must bravely reject a political culture that exploits differences to gain power,” he added. “The future of the country should not be shaped by those who divide, but led by those who dare to unite, serve steadfastly, and fulfil the people’s trust with high responsibility.”
The event, held in Seremban, officially kicked off PH’s campaign machinery ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election. Anwar, who is also PH chairman, praised the performance of the state government under caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun over the past eight years and called for a renewed mandate.
He noted that while he had preferred to avoid a snap election to focus on ongoing national development, circumstances left no other choice.
The launch comes as PH gears up for state polls in Negeri Sembilan and potentially Johor, amid efforts to maintain political stability and continue its reform agenda under the Madani government.
Photos from the event showed Anwar addressing supporters, with PH leaders and machinery kits on display.
This message aligns with Anwar’s recurring calls for unity (perpaduan) as a cornerstone of Malaysia’s progress, rejecting divisive politics in favour of inclusive nation-building.
