LABUAN, SABAH, 6 August 2025 – Dato’ Mohd Husni Mohamad Salleh, 56, has been appointed as the new Chairman of Labuan Corporation for a two-year term, effective from 1 August 2025.
Dato’ Husni, a seasoned corporate leader and administrator, brings over 34 years of experience across government, government-linked companies (GLCs), and the corporate sector. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from West Virginia University, United States.
Previously, Dato’ Husni served as Chief Executive Officer of the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU) from 2011 to 2018, where he also acted as Secretariat Head for the National Bumiputera Economic Council and the Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputera Economic Council. During his tenure, he spearheaded transformative economic initiatives for Bumiputera communities through investments, financing, and national business development programs.
His illustrious career also includes roles as Chief Governance Officer at Sumner Group Health Medical Devices Limited in the United Kingdom, Chief Executive Officer of Maju Holdings Sdn. Bhd., Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad (MAVCAP), and Chief Operating Officer of MSC Venture Management.
Dato’ Husni’s contributions have earned him international accolades, including the *Jewels of the Muslim World Award* from OIC Today Magazine (2019), the Global Leadership Award for Leadership Excellence in Community Transformation (2017), and the Innovative Leadership Award from Limkokwing University (2016).
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, expressed confidence that Dato’ Husni’s extensive experience will strengthen Labuan’s role as a competitive Federal Territory, particularly in attracting investments, expanding the local economic ecosystem, and improving the quality of life for its residents.
Dr. Zaliha also extended her heartfelt appreciation to outgoing Chairman YB Senator Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Anifah Aman for his exemplary leadership and contributions since June 2023.
