KEDAH, Malaysia. July 26, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and UMNO President Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi officiated the UMNO Jerai Division Meeting yesterday, where he was warmly received by the division’s leadership and delegates, brimming with enthusiasm and determination.
Addressing the gathering, Ahmad Zahid emphasized the growing unity among UMNO’s grassroots in Kedah, particularly in Jerai, as the party sets its sights on reclaiming the Jerai parliamentary seat and other constituencies in the state for the 16th General Election (PRU-16).
He reaffirmed UMNO’s commitment to its core principles, rooted in Islam as the Federal Religion, the Malay language, the position of the Malay Rulers, and the special rights of the Malay community. Despite criticisms questioning UMNO’s relevance in the Unity Government, Ahmad Zahid highlighted the party’s achievements, including the introduction of the National Tahfiz Policy, the establishment of Tabika Pra-Tahfiz and MRSM Ulul Albab, and the promotion of TVET Tahfiz programs.
Urging UMNO members to intensify their efforts, he stressed the importance of closing ranks, avoiding internal divisions, and leveraging social media to engage younger voters. “Let us close the old chapter and open a new one. Our time will come, God willing,” he declared.
The UMNO Jerai Division Meeting signals a reinvigorated push towards strengthening the party’s dominance and reconnecting with the electorate ahead of PRU-16.
