PENANG, Malaysia, July 19, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim declared unity as the cornerstone of Malaysia’s progress during the Unity Week celebration in Penang, emphasizing that diversity is not a barrier but a strength rooted in justice and compassion. Speaking at the event, he praised the close-knit spirit among the state’s multiracial community and thanked the Unity Minister and state machinery for their steadfast commitment.

“Unity is not just a slogan; it is the pillar and axis that ensures the survival of any nation’s civilization,” Anwar said, highlighting the government’s focus on “harmony in diversity.” He acknowledged the real challenges faced by all communities—Melayu, Chinese, Indian, Iban, Kadazan, and others—stressing that the MADANI government’s approach prioritizes tangible, inclusive solutions over divisive rhetoric.
The Prime Minister pointed to initiatives like the MADANI Housing project in Batu Kawan and the Teratai MADANI program as evidence of inclusive development. “These efforts show how progress can be achieved collectively,” he noted.
Anwar also announced an immediate RM10 million allocation to the Unity Ministry to strengthen national unity programs, reinforcing the government’s commitment to fostering cohesion. “Malaysia is gaining global recognition not because of me, but due to the collective efforts of a society that rejects hatred and embraces stability,” he said.
The event, attended by diverse communities, underscored Malaysia’s maturity as a nation, with Anwar emphasizing that peace and stability are prerequisites for progress. “We move forward not with insults or hatred, but with fair policies, clear resolve, and unbreakable unity,” he concluded.
