NEW YORK, November 6 (LNA) – Jessica Chastain brought the cast of her new Netflix thriller Heartland to New York City, the streamer said, ahead of the film’s release on the streaming service on November 13.
Netflix shared a photo from the event on its official X account on Friday, writing: “Jessica Chastain brought the cast of her new movie HEARTLAND to NYC.” The image shows Chastain posing with fellow cast members in front of a Netflix and Heartland backdrop.
In the film, the Academy Award winner plays Misty Jones, a retired country music legend who has left the spotlight behind. According to Netflix’s official synopsis, Misty comes out of seclusion to investigate the disappearance of her niece, a rising country musician, and must grapple with her own past and Nashville’s seedy underbelly.
“Misty’s search uncovers a murky side of the city where no one, herself included, is who they seem,” Netflix said in its description of the film on Tudum.
Heartland is written and directed by Shana Feste, best known for the 2010 country music drama Country Strong. Real-life country singer-songwriter Carter Faith plays the missing niece, Charlie Heart.
The cast also includes Garrett Hedlund as Roy Combs, Ross Lynch as Jace, Jennifer Nettles as Winnie Jo Lean and John Hawkes as Clark, according to Netflix. Paul Sparks, Hill Harper, Norbert Leo Butz and Wynn Everett are also listed on the film’s Netflix page.
The film is produced by Chernin Entertainment and Sandbox Studios and was filmed in Nashville, Tennessee, according to IMDb. Netflix lists it as an R-rated thriller.
Netflix has previously released a trailer showing Chastain’s character searching for her missing niece. Heartland premieres on Netflix on November 13.
