DUBAI, November 4, 2026 – British Airways has resumed flights between London Heathrow and Dubai International Airport, ending an eight-month suspension caused by the war in the Middle East, The National reported.
BRICS News reported the restart in a post on X, writing that the airline had “officially” resumed flights between London and Dubai after an eight-month suspension due to the Middle East war.
Flight BA105 left Heathrow at 8.08pm local time on Tuesday and landed in Dubai at 7.33am local time on Wednesday, according to The National. The return service, BA104, left Dubai at 9.45am on Wednesday and was scheduled to arrive in London at 2.36pm local time.
The British flag carrier is initially operating one daily flight in each direction during the winter season, with plans to increase to twice daily in summer 2027, The National reported. The airline had first planned to restart the route on October 25 before postponing it to November 3. Gulf News also reported the restoration of the Heathrow route, noting that other BA services in the region remain paused.
The resumption marks the return of a major international carrier to Dubai after months of disruption to air travel across the region following the outbreak of the Iran war at the end of February. Other parts of British Airways’ Middle East network are still being rebuilt. Its Abu Dhabi services remain suspended and are not expected to restart until the winter 2027-28 season, while Doha flights resumed on September 1 at one a day, down from two, according to The National.
Services to Amman were due to resume on November 4 with four flights a week, Riyadh flights are suspended until January 11, 2027, and flights to Bahrain will remain suspended until the end of March, the newspaper reported.
Other airlines are taking longer to return. Air France recently extended the suspension of its Dubai flights until November 7, while Lufthansa, Swiss and Eurowings are scheduled to resume Dubai services on November 25, followed by Austrian Airlines on December 12, The National said. Singapore Airlines has extended its Dubai suspension until February 28, 2027, while Air Canada and KLM have cancelled services until the end of March 2027. Virgin Atlantic does not plan to return to Dubai until October 2027. KLM has said it will not fly between Amsterdam and Dubai during the winter 2026-27 season, up to and including March 27, 2027, Gulf News reported.
The staggered return reflects continuing airspace restrictions and security concerns across the region, The National reported.
Flightradar24 records confirmed the arrival of the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, registration G-ZBLA, on the first flight and its departure from Dubai as BA104 on Wednesday morning, Gulf News reported. Moving to two flights a day in summer 2027 would take the schedule from seven to 14 weekly departures from each city. Among the Lufthansa Group carriers, Lufthansa plans up to five weekly flights each from Frankfurt and Munich, while Swiss and Eurowings plan daily services from Zurich and Berlin, and Austrian Airlines plans five weekly Vienna–Dubai flights from December 12, according to Gulf News.
