PUTRAJAYA, November 3, 2026 – Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) Director-General Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain returned to duty yesterday, November 2, 2026, after a week’s leave, and chaired the agency’s Commander’s Call Meeting No. 3/2026, according to a post on AKPS’s official Facebook page.
The meeting, held at the AKPS headquarters in Putrajaya, brought together the agency’s senior officers and the commanders of its entry points, The Star, Utusan Malaysia and Kosmo reported, citing the agency’s post.
AKPS said the meeting focused on Gerak Atur 2027, in particular on strengthening the agency’s strategic direction, its operational readiness and the effectiveness of border control and protection.
“The meeting brought together senior officers and commanders of AKPS entry points to discuss preparations and operational priorities for next year,” the agency said, as quoted by The Star.
“It also focused on strengthening the agency’s strategic direction, operational readiness and the effectiveness of border control and protection,” it added.
In its Facebook post, AKPS summed up the session in a short message: “Focus is clear. Work is streamlined. The mission continues. AKPS remains committed to strengthening operational efficiency, integrity and security at the country’s entry points.”
According to Utusan Malaysia, AKPS described the meeting as a platform to coordinate work so that the agency’s operational efficiency continues to improve, with emphasis placed on integrity and security at all of the country’s entry points. The paper said the meeting also reflected the continuity of the agency’s strategic agenda, so that its duties run smoothly as it faces operational challenges in 2027.
His return comes days after the Home Ministry (KDN) announced a decision on his position. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said on October 29, 2026, that the ministry had decided to return Mohd Shuhaily, a police officer serving at AKPS on secondment, to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
“We have decided to return him to the police force,” Saifuddin was quoted by The Star as saying. Kosmo reported that his next posting within PDRM would be determined by the force’s leadership.
However, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said on October 30, 2026, that a new posting for Mohd Shuhaily could only be decided after the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was obtained to end his appointment at AKPS early, Malaysiakini reported. He said police were awaiting legal advice from the Attorney-General’s Chambers before seeking His Majesty’s consent.
Mohd Shuhaily was appointed AKPS Director-General on July 1, 2025, for a two-year term ending on June 30, 2027, Malaysiakini reported.
According to the same report, the proposal to return him to the police followed his appearance in court on October 21, 2026, when he pleaded not guilty to two charges of voluntarily causing hurt to two police personnel at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on September 28, 2026.
AKPS is the agency responsible for controlling and protecting Malaysia’s entry points. The agency said it remains committed to improving operational efficiency, integrity and security at those entry points.
