MOSCOW, November 1 – Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Sunday that it had detained a teenager over a threat to carry out a terrorist attack at a Moscow park, after receiving a warning from the United States.
The news aggregator BRICS News reported on X late on November 1, 2026, Malaysia time, that Russia had detained a teenager over a terrorist attack threat in Moscow following a tip-off from the United States. The detention followed a US Embassy security alert on Saturday warning of a “credible threat of a mass casualty event” at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in southern Moscow.
‘I found a place’
“The Federal Security Service, in coordination with the Russian National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Investigative Committee, conducted an investigation into information received from US law enforcement agencies regarding preparations for a terrorist attack in Moscow’s Tsaritsyno Museum,” the FSB said, according to the TASS news agency. “As a result of these measures, Russian law enforcement detained an underaged Russian citizen.”
The FSB said the suspect had posted photos of himself on TikTok wearing tactical clothing, a balaclava, a cap, sunglasses and headphones while holding an object resembling an automatic weapon, as well as photos taken at the museum with the caption “I found a place”. The suspect has not been identified, Al Jazeera reported.
Items of clothing and accessories were found at the teenager’s home, and his devices showed the TikTok account from which the threats were posted, a subscription to a neo-Nazi channel on Telegram, and “a significant number of search queries regarding past terrorist acts, mass murders, and other acts of violence”, TASS quoted the FSB as saying. The RIA Novosti news agency said the FSB released video showing the teenager being placed in a service vehicle, along with the items seized from him.
Thanks to the American side
“We are thankful to the American side for the information it has shared,” the FSB said. Reuters, citing Interfax, reported that Russia’s Investigative Committee was considering what legal or procedural action to take. According to the FSB, all cultural and public events at the museum and park were cancelled and security was stepped up while the investigation was carried out.
On Saturday the FSB had said it received information from the United States through established partner channels about preparations for an attack in Moscow. The park was temporarily closed and access restricted, RIA Novosti reported, and the tabloid Baza said an organ concert was cut short about 10 minutes before the end when the venue was evacuated, NBC News reported.
A warning with a precedent
The US Embassy had urged its citizens to avoid the museum and said the US government was coordinating with Russian authorities on a response. Washington has previously warned Moscow of possible attacks, including in March 2024, weeks before an attack on the Crocus City Hall concert venue outside Moscow by an affiliate of the ISIL group that killed more than 140 people, Al Jazeera noted.
Tsaritsyno is a palace and park complex in southern Moscow and a popular spot for residents and visitors. LNA will continue to follow developments.
