KUALA LUMPUR, November 1 – Team Rey are through to the Grand Final of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) Season 18 after beating Team Vamos 4-2 in the lower bracket final at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The win also secures Team Rey a place at the MLBB M8 World Championship, as both Grand Final teams in the Malaysian league qualify for the world event, according to esports outlets bo3.gg and Elektrik GG. Team Vamos, who finished third in the regular season, are out.
Team Rey now face Selangor Red Giants (SRG) in a best-of-seven Grand Final today, Sunday, November 1, at 5.30pm Malaysia time. It is a rematch of Friday’s upper bracket final, which SRG won 3-0.
A six-game fight
The best-of-seven lower final did not start well for Team Rey. Team Vamos took the opening game in about 22 minutes, according to match records on MLBB Lab. Team Rey answered with two straight wins in Games 2 and 3 to lead 2-1.
Team Vamos levelled the series at 2-2 in Game 4, but Team Rey took Game 5 and then closed out the series with a quick Game 6 that lasted under 11 minutes.
It was Team Rey’s second playoff win over Team Vamos in three days. The two sides met in the upper bracket semi-final on Thursday, October 29, when Team Rey swept Team Vamos 3-0. Team Vamos then stayed alive by beating Bigetron MY by VIT 3-1 in the lower bracket semi-final on Friday to earn the rematch.
SRG chase a sixth straight crown
Standing in Team Rey’s way are SRG, who topped the regular season and have not dropped a game in the playoffs, sweeping Bigetron MY by VIT 3-0 and Team Rey 3-0. The five-time defending champions are chasing a sixth successive MPL MY title.
After the upper final, SRG jungler Haqqullah “Sekys” Ahmad Shahrul Zaman told the New Straits Times that the team had respect for Team Rey. “We are not scared of Team Rey, but we had a lot of respect for them,” he said.
Team Rey, who finished second in the regular season, will be looking to turn the tables in the longer best-of-seven format.
Road to Istanbul
Whatever today’s result, both SRG and Team Rey will represent Malaysia at the M8 World Championship, whose main stages will be held in Istanbul, Türkiye, in January 2027. The Grand Final decides which team goes as Malaysia’s champion.
MPL MY Season 18 began on August 14 with eight teams playing a double round robin, before the top six moved into the playoffs from October 28 to November 1.
