Information Department of Malaysia (JAPEN) Director-General Erwin Khairul Ahmad has highlighted the government’s RM750 Special Financial Assistance (Bantuan Khas Kewangan, BKK) for public service pensioners, reminding them that the aid covers veterans with and without pensions.
In a post shared on X on the morning of October 29, 2026, Erwin said the government was providing the RM750 BKK to public service pensioners, including pensioned and non-pensioned veterans, and that payment would be made in two phases: before Aidilfitri and in conjunction with the eve of the 70th National Day.

He ended the post with the line “Jasa Dikenang, Kebajikan Terus Dibela!”, which translates as “Service Remembered, Welfare Still Championed!”. The post carried a short video.
More than one million pensioners
The assistance was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when he tabled Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on October 9, 2026. According to the Budget speech published by the Ministry of Finance, special financial assistance of RM750 will be provided to more than one million government pensioners, including veterans with and without pensions. “In recognition of the contributions of civil servants, the Government has agreed to provide special financial assistance of 1,500 ringgit to 1.3 million civil servants at premier Grade B and below, including contract appointees,” the speech reads.
The speech states that the assistance will be disbursed in two payments, before Aidilfitri and ahead of the 70th anniversary of Malaysia’s Independence. The exact payment dates have yet to be announced. The timing matches another Budget 2027 measure, SARA MADANI assistance of RM100 for Malaysians aged 18 and above who are not STR recipients, which the speech said would also be disbursed on two occasions, ahead of Aidilfitri and in conjunction with the 70th National Day.
Minimum pension also raised
Pensioners are also set to benefit from a separate Budget 2027 measure. The speech announced that the minimum pension will be increased from RM1,000 to RM1,350 a month, which the government said would benefit nearly 59,000 pensioners, Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) veterans and recipients of derivative pensions.
Separately, the Budget provides a special contribution of RM750 in appreciation of the services of 70,000 KAFA (Quranic and Fardu Ain class) teachers, takmir teachers, imams, bilals, tok siak, noja and marbut. That contribution is distinct from the BKK for civil servants and pensioners. The speech also said the government, through Tabung Haji, will fully cover the SOCSO contributions of all 40,000 imams, bilals, tok siak, noja, marbut and takmir teachers. Erwin’s latest post follows his earlier message to serving civil servants, reported by LNA on October 22, in which he urged them to plan wisely as Budget 2027 brings the RM1,500 special aid.
JAPEN, which comes under the Ministry of Communications, is the government’s main agency for explaining policies and initiatives to the public at federal, state and district levels, and has been sharing key Budget 2027 measures with the public since the Budget was tabled. Erwin took the helm of the department on June 22, 2026, as its 20th Director-General.
