KUALA LUMPUR — HoYoverse has revealed Astra Yao as the second Zenless Zone Zero character heading to Honkai: Star Rail, as the first crossover between the two popular games takes shape for Version 4.8.
The singer from New Eridu was unveiled on the official Honkai: Star Rail X account on October 28, 2026, a day after fellow Zenless Zone Zero favourite Ellen Joe was introduced. “I’m Astra Yao, a singer from New Eridu. If you like my music, we’ll definitely hit it off. And if you’re not a fan yet… just give me one track to win you over!” the character says in the official reveal.

Quantum and Harmony
In Honkai: Star Rail, Astra Yao will be a Quantum character on the Path of Harmony, the support path known for boosting teammates, Japanese outlets Inside Games and 4Gamer reported. Ellen Joe, the Victoria Housekeeping maid, will be an Ice character on the Path of Destruction.
4Gamer reported that Astra Yao’s Japanese voice is provided by Aya Endo, with Yu Zibei credited for her singing voice, hinting that her skills may involve song, as with Honkai: Star Rail’s Robin. In the crossover story, Astra steps away from the stage and spends a holiday wandering under the blue skies of the game’s paradise setting, according to the official character introduction.
The pick fits her role in Zenless Zone Zero, where Astra Yao is an S-Rank Ether support agent who raises her teammates’ attack and critical damage, GosuGamers noted. Honkai: Star Rail has no Ether element, making Quantum the closest equivalent.
Crossover goes both ways
The two games first confirmed the crossover on July 17, 2026, when the official Zenless Zone Zero website announced that the event would begin in winter 2026. Inside Games reported that the Zenless Zone Zero side of the collaboration will arrive in that game’s Version 3.4, bringing Honkai: Star Rail’s Kafka and Robin to New Eridu.
HoYoverse has also teased further surprises for the event, Inside Games reported, without giving details. A release date for Version 4.8 has not yet been officially announced.
Honkai: Star Rail is available on PC, PlayStation 5, iOS and Android. Zenless Zone Zero is also available on mobile, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
For fans of both games, the reveal means two of New Eridu’s most popular characters will soon be boarding the Astral Express.
