JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 17 (Bernama) – Local fast-food chain Marrybrown plans to open 30 new outlets nationwide by 2027 as part of its expansion strategy to strengthen its presence in the domestic market.
Marrybrown Malaysia chief executive officer Daniel Chan Lek Seong said the move was aimed at expanding the company’s business network to meet growing domestic demand.
He said Marrybrown currently operates about 300 outlets in Malaysia, with Johor accounting for approximately 100 outlets, reflecting the brand’s roots in the state.
Chan told Bernama this after attending the launch of the Road to Francaise International Malaysia 2027 (FIM2027) programme here yesterday.
He said the company also planned to expand further in Johor, supported by the state’s economic growth, including developments linked to the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project.
On its international expansion, Chan said Marrybrown operates about 500 outlets across 16 countries, including Malaysia, and is exploring new markets such as Cambodia and Egypt.
The company’s first outlet in Cambodia is scheduled to open in November, with renovation work currently underway.
He said Marrybrown aimed to enter three to five new country markets annually, subject to available business opportunities.
The expansion strategy also involves collaboration with relevant agencies and the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) to strengthen Malaysian brands in international markets.
Meanwhile, Chan said about 90 per cent of the company’s raw materials were sourced from local suppliers, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to support the domestic supply chain.
He added that Marrybrown would continue to maintain its menu prices and prioritise affordability for consumers.
