SEOUL Oct 3, 2026 — North Korea has fired a ballistic missile after South Korea demanded an apology for an explosion in the demilitarized zone, according to BRICS News.
The launch was reported as a “JUST IN” update from the BRICS News account on X, which said Pyongyang fired the ballistic missile following Seoul’s demand for an apology over the DMZ blast.
BRICS News did not provide further details in the initial post on the missile’s trajectory, range, or whether any alert was issued in South Korea or Japan.
The demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea remains one of the most heavily militarised borders in the world. Incidents along the frontier often raise tensions on the peninsula and draw close scrutiny from Seoul, Washington and regional partners.
South Korea’s call for an apology over the DMZ explosion was cited by BRICS News as the immediate backdrop to the reported launch. No independent confirmation of the missile firing beyond the BRICS News alert was included in the source post.
Further official statements from Seoul, Tokyo or the United Nations Command were not included in the BRICS News update.
