LOS ANGELES, October 2, 2026 — John Leguizamo has a message for David Ellison as Skydance takes the reins of the Paramount-Warner Bros. combination: put Americans and the industry first.
“Come on, Dave. Do the right thing. Don’t just think of yourself and your pocket. Think of what Americans need and what the industry needs. Think of others for a change,” Leguizamo said Friday at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebración of Cinema & Television, where he received a Career Achievement Award.
Though merger terms restrict sale of the Paramount and Warner Bros. lots in California for at least five years, Leguizamo said that still falls short. “You got an end date. You got an expiration date. That’s not cool,” he said, adding: “The industry belongs in L.A. We need to support it and grow it. Rebuild it and add to it. Not subtract.”
Leguizamo was among more than 4,000 creatives who signed an open letter earlier this year opposing the acquisition. Variety covered his remarks in a piece linked from @Variety’s X feed.
