HOLLYWOOD, October 2, 2026 — Mary Louise Weller, the actress best known for playing sorority sister Mandy Pepperidge in the classic comedy “Animal House,” has died after a long illness. She was 79.
Her longtime partner Michael Roy Curtis and multiple reports confirmed her death on Thursday. Variety reported that Weller, born in New York City on Oct. 2, 1946, and raised in Westwood, Calif., trained with the U.S. Equestrian Team as a teenager and made her film debut in the 1972 comedy “Hail!”
In 1978 she landed the role that defined her career in John Landis’s “Animal House.” Asked years later if she knew the movie would be a hit, Weller said: “I’m pretty sure all of us knew that the movie would be a huge hit… The script was simply brilliant…”
Her other credits included “The Bell Jar,” “Forced Vengeance,” and TV appearances on “Baretta,” “Kojak,” “CHiPs” and “Starsky & Hutch.” She is survived by her cousin, author Sheila Weller.
