KUALA LUMPUR October 2, 2026 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said 160 housing units on a 10-acre former Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) quarters site beside Masjid Abdullah Zubair in Sungai Besi will be refurbished and set aside for young Malay professionals working in the capital, with the homes expected to be ready for occupation by 2027.
In a statement posted on his official X account after Friday prayers and a working lunch with local residents, Anwar said he inspected the Bandar Malaysia site next to the mosque later the same day.
He said the visit carried particular significance because the government’s commitment to gazette 50 acres of Malay Reserve Land in Bandar Malaysia — announced at the Bumiputera Economic Congress 2024 — had now become a reality.
“Tinjauan hari ini membawa makna tersendiri apabila komitmen mewartakan 50 ekar Tanah Rizab Melayu di Bandar Malaysia, yang saya umumkan ketika Kongres Ekonomi Bumiputera 2024, kini menjadi kenyataan,” Anwar wrote.
The gazette, he said, ensures that highly valuable land in the heart of Kuala Lumpur continues to be preserved for the interests of the Malay community.
The handover of the 10-acre site forms the first phase of development on that Malay Reserve Land, with the focus on providing housing for young Malay professionals.
“Penyerahan tapak 10 ekar ini merupakan fasa pertama pembangunan di kawasan Tanah Rizab Melayu tersebut, dengan tumpuan kepada penyediaan kediaman untuk golongan profesional muda Melayu,” he said.
Anwar added that the MADANI government is determined to expand home-ownership opportunities and uplift the dignity and economic standing of Malays and Bumiputera without undermining the rights and opportunities of other communities. The prosperity of Kuala Lumpur, he said, must be shared fairly so that every citizen has a place and a dignified future in the capital.
The post carried the hashtags #MalaysiaMADANI and #YakinMADANI.
