PERMATANG PAUH Aug 29, 2026 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government’s duty is not only to pursue national progress, but to ensure that progress reaches ordinary Malaysians — especially those who still need support and a chance to improve their lives.
In a post on Saturday, Anwar said leaders must continue going to the ground, seeing people’s needs first-hand and making sure government programmes actually help those who need them. Opportunities, he added, should be opened so that people can stand on their own and raise their incomes.
He also said new technologies such as artificial intelligence should be brought closer to the public. Through NADI centres, the government wants young people and small entrepreneurs at the grassroots to gain access and skills to use technology to expand their businesses and increase their earnings.
“This is the trust we must uphold — not only to build an advanced nation, but at the same time to ensure that no citizen is left behind,” he wrote, tagging the post with #MalaysiaMADANI and #YakinMADANI.
The remarks accompanied photos of Anwar meeting residents, speaking at a community event and interacting with families in Permatang Pauh. One image showed him at the launch of the Skim Usahawan Bangkit (SUB) Madani programme in the constituency, his long-time political base in Penang.
The message fits a broader government push to use NADI centres as community digital hubs. The Communications Ministry has already rolled out AI literacy programmes at NADI outlets nationwide, with targets to train tens of thousands of participants and place prompt-engineering skills in centres beyond the major cities.
Penang currently has 42 NADI centres, including several in the Permatang Pauh area. Officials have previously described the network as a way to give rural youth and micro-entrepreneurs internet access, digital training and a platform to market local products.
Anwar, who now represents Tambun in Perak, used the Permatang Pauh visit to underline that development policy must remain tied to grassroots needs. He has long described the constituency as the starting point of his political journey.
