PUTRAJAYA 28, AUg 2026 – The tiered structure housing 1,500 students for the human graphic performance at the 2026 National Day celebration has been declared safe after its safety was fully reviewed by Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj).
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the structure was designed with a degree of flexibility to accommodate the rhythmic movements of the performers.
Fahmi, who is also Chairman of the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day Celebrations Main Committee (HKHM), was responding to a viral social media video showing the terrace structure swaying slightly, which had raised public concern.
“If the structure were too rigid, and because the human graphic performance moves in rhythm, that would not be good for the structure. So it needs a little tolerance. That tolerance has been built into the structure.
“Alhamdulillah, the structure is safe. We have asked for it to be reviewed so that nothing would hinder the performance or pose any safety issue, especially to the students,” he said.
Fahmi also said the structure is being used for the third time and has so far had no problems.
The human graphic performance will take place at Dataran Putrajaya on 31 August, involving 1,500 students as part of the official 2026 National Day programme.
