PUTRAJAYA June 17, 2026 — Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah Yusof joined the national-level Ma’al Hijrah celebration for 1448H/2026 at Masjid Putra this morning, an event graced by the presence of Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, who delivered the royal address.
The ceremony, themed “MADANI Dihayati, Ummah Diberkati” (Embracing MADANI, Blessing the Ummah), marked the Islamic New Year and commemorated the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad SAW from Mecca to Medina. In his statement, Fadillah highlighted the Hijrah as more than a historical event, serving as a timeless guide on sacrifice, unity, resilience, and commitment to positive change.
“Marilah kita bersama-sama memperkukuh perpaduan, meningkatkan keimanan dan memperbanyakkan amal kebajikan demi kesejahteraan ummah serta kemakmuran negara,” Fadillah posted, urging Malaysians to strengthen unity, faith, and good deeds for the prosperity of the nation under the MADANI framework.
Sultan Nazrin, also the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, officiated the event attended by senior government officials, including Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan.
The highlight included the presentation of the Ma’al Hijrah awards. Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, Rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and a prominent Muslim philosopher, received the National Ma’al Hijrah Award for his significant contributions to Islamic thought, epistemology, and civilisational studies.
Dr. Ahmad Al-Raysuni, a Moroccan Islamic jurisprudence expert, was named the International Ma’al Hijrah Award recipient.
Fadillah congratulated both awardees, hoping their recognition would inspire all Malaysians to contribute to society and the nation.
The event aligns with nationwide observances welcoming 1 Muharram 1448H, emphasising reflection, unity, and progress in line with Islamic values and Malaysia’s MADANI vision.
