PUTRAJAYA, June 11, 2026 — In a dramatic encounter today, the newly appointed Director General of the Community Communications Department (J-KOM), Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali (Syam Ghaz), met businessman Datuk Albert Tei and subsequently lodged a police report against him.
According to multiple reports, Tei allegedly created provocation and disrupted government premises, causing unrest among civil servants. Hisyamuddin claimed that Tei’s actions were intended to disturb official duties and spread baseless accusations against the Communications Ministry.
During the encounter, the KP J-KOM strongly criticised Tei’s behaviour and challenged him to an open public debate to address the issues raised.
In a video statement, Hisyamuddin stressed that freedom of speech does not grant anyone the right to spread slander, incite hatred, or cause division. He described Tei’s conduct as unacceptable and said the police report was necessary to protect public order.
Albert Tei, known for his past exposés on alleged corruption (including the Sabah mining scandal), has frequently been in the public eye for his outspoken views and clashes with authorities.
This latest incident highlights ongoing tensions between government officials and vocal critics. No immediate response from Albert Tei has been widely reported as of this afternoon, but the challenge for a public debate has already sparked discussions on social media.
The police are expected to investigate the report in due course.
