TAMPA, Fla. June 10, 2026 — U.S. forces carried out a new round of self-defense strikes against multiple targets in Iran on June 10, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today. The operation, directed by the Commander in Chief, targeted Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems, and air defense sites.
According to CENTCOM, U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy assets employed precision munitions against facilities that posed ongoing threats to American personnel and international commercial shipping in regional waters. The strikes represent the second consecutive day of U.S. military action amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
“CENTCOM forces launched strikes on Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems, and air defense sites across Iran,” the command stated. “The strikes are in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression. U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready.”
The latest action follows the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter earlier in the week, which prompted initial U.S. retaliatory strikes. Officials have described the operations as proportional responses to Iranian attacks on U.S. forces and threats to navigation through key waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has publicly defended the strikes, stating that U.S. forces will continue to “hit Iran hard” as needed. President Donald Trump has emphasized that Iran has “taken too long to negotiate a deal” and will face consequences for its actions.
Iranian media have reported explosions at various sites, though official details from Tehran remain limited. The escalating exchanges come against the backdrop of a fragile ceasefire that has shown signs of collapse, with disruptions to oil shipments and rising concerns over regional stability.
No U.S. casualties have been reported in the latest strikes. CENTCOM officials say operations are ongoing as the military maintains a posture of readiness in the theater.
