KUALA LUMPUR, May 26, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the MADANI government will continue the targeted BUDI MADANI: BUDI Agri-Komoditi cash assistance programme to support smallholders, farmers, entrepreneurs, and vulnerable groups facing rising costs and global economic uncertainties.
The decision was made during the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting chaired by Anwar yesterday, which reviewed presentations from the Ministry of Health (KKM) and the Ministry of Plantations and Commodities (KPK) on the escalating global supply chain crisis.
In a statement, Anwar acknowledged the hardships faced by Malaysians due to increasing living costs. “The MADANI government understands the pulse of the people confronting pressures from rising costs and global economic uncertainties,” he said. “Based on these considerations, the government has agreed to extend the BUDI MADANI: BUDI Agri-Komoditi initiative in a targeted manner to assist smallholders, entrepreneurs, and vulnerable groups who form the backbone of the country’s economy.”
On the health front, Anwar assured that medicine supplies remain stable overall. The Health Ministry will continue close monitoring of stocks and prices to prevent any adverse impact on citizens.
“Whatever challenges lie ahead, the MADANI government will continue to work hard, act with compassion, and ensure the welfare of the people remains the nation’s top priority,” he added.
The announcement was accompanied by the hashtags #MalaysiaMADANI, #MADANIbekerja, and #YakinMADANI.
This extension builds on earlier adjustments, including increases to related cash assistance for farmers and diesel users. The MTEN continues to monitor international developments, including potential impacts from regional conflicts, to safeguard Malaysia’s economic resilience.
The initiative aims to cushion the effects of global disruptions on key sectors like agriculture and commodities while protecting public welfare.
