KUALA LUMPUR, May 22, 2026 — Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has shared a reflective message on social media, admitting personal shortcomings while pledging his full commitment to leading the nation.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Anwar wrote in Malay: “Saya sedar tiada manusia yang sempurna, dan masih ada kekurangan yang sentiasa saya muhasabah. Namun amanah ini tetap saya galas dengan seluruh jiwa raga, kerana setiap langkah yang diambil adalah demi memastikan masa depan bangsa dan tanah air sentiasa terbela.”
Translation: “I am aware that no human is perfect, and there are still shortcomings that I constantly reflect upon. However, I carry this trust with all my heart and soul, because every step taken is to ensure the future of the nation and the homeland is always protected.”
The post includes a 69-second video montage showcasing Anwar’s public duties. Scenes feature him working at his desk signing documents, walking in the rain with security detail, interacting warmly with children and crowds, engaging at schools, and performing prayers in congregation.
The message comes amid ongoing political discussions in Malaysia, with the next general election (PRU16) on the horizon. Supporters praised the post as a sign of humility and dedication to reform, while critics questioned its sincerity, citing unresolved issues such as investigations into certain figures and economic concerns.
As Prime Minister since November 2022, Anwar has focused on economic recovery, anti-corruption efforts, and positioning Malaysia on the global stage. This latest message appears aimed at reinforcing his image as a dedicated, introspective leader ahead of key political developments.
