SEREMBAN, May 15, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today praised Malaysia’s youth as vital drivers of the nation’s future, announcing an additional RM5 million allocation to the Malaysian Youth Council (Majlis Belia Malaysia – MBM) to empower young Malaysians.
Speaking at the National Youth Day (Hari Belia Negara) celebration themed “Menggerak Belia,” Anwar highlighted the energy, idealism, and critical thinking of the younger generation in shaping a progressive Malaysia under the MADANI agenda.
“The youth must be equipped with knowledge, skills, values, and confidence to face a rapidly changing and complex world,” he said in his official statement.
Anwar expressed confidence that today’s youth possess the courage to think critically, voice mature opinions, and drive reforms for national progress. He reaffirmed the MADANI government’s commitment to expanding opportunities in education, skills training, employment, entrepreneurship, and support for gig economy workers and young entrepreneurs.
The Prime Minister stressed that mastery of knowledge and technology must be paired with principles of integrity and social awareness to build a more competitive and dignified society.
“As a commitment to the youth empowerment agenda, I announce an additional allocation of RM5 million to the Malaysian Youth Council to strengthen youth movements and development nationwide,” Anwar declared.
He concluded by expressing optimism that the spirit, intellect, and determination of young Malaysians will elevate the country to greater heights of progress, justice, and respect.
The announcement aligns with ongoing government efforts to invest in youth development, with the extra funding aimed at bolstering programs in education, leadership, innovation, and community initiatives through the MBM.
