SEREMBAN, 28 April 2026 – Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming today questioned the need to topple Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, stressing that the public clearly opposes any “tebuk atap” (backdoor) attempts to destabilise the state government through party defections.
In a brief statement posted on platform X (formerly Twitter), Nga Kor Ming, who is also the Teluk Intan MP, said: “At a glance. What wrong has YAB MB NS done to deserve being overthrown? Whatever it is, it is clear that the people do not agree and oppose backdoor government moves. Understand?
He also shared two media reports highlighting the achievements of the Negeri Sembilan state government under Aminuddin’s leadership:
- Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest investment value in its history in 2025. (BH)
- State civil servants received the maximum Special Government Payment (BKK) of three months’ salary. (Harian Metro)
Nga Kor Ming’s statement comes as the political crisis in Negeri Sembilan deepens. Yesterday, 27 April, all 14 UMNO/Barisan Nasional (BN) State Assemblymen announced the withdrawal of their support for Aminuddin Harun, citing loss of confidence in his handling of the state’s royal institution crisis.
The withdrawal of support has left the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government with only 17 seats in the 36-seat State Legislative Assembly – below the 19 seats needed for a simple majority.
The political crisis stems from a royal dispute that began on 19 April when four of the Undangs declared the removal of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, and appointed a successor. Aminuddin rejected the declaration as unconstitutional.
DAP and PH have previously stressed that any attempt to form a new government through party-hopping is a betrayal of the people’s mandate from the last state election.
As of now, Chief Minister Aminuddin Harun has called an emergency meeting at his official residence, while PH leaders including DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke have held internal discussions.
The latest developments in Negeri Sembilan are being closely monitored at the national level as they could affect the stability of the Unity Government in the state and have wider implications for national politics.
#LetFactsSpeak – as emphasised by Nga Kor Ming – is now a test of whether economic achievements and public welfare will take precedence, or whether the politics of power will prevail.
