SHAH ALAM, April 23, 2026 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has stressed that the state government addresses land encroachment issues in a systematic and orderly manner to prevent any conflicts.
“The Selangor government handles land encroachment issues in an orderly manner without causing conflict,” he said while replying to a question from Dr. Mohd Zamri Mohd Zainuldin (PH-Sungai Burong) during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
According to Amirudin, the District Security Committee (JKD) has been activated as a district-level coordination platform involving various relevant agencies. The JKD acts as a neutral mediator to resolve land encroachment cases, particularly those involving the illegal construction of places of worship on private land.
“We do not want landowners to be forced to go to court and bear legal fees. Currently, besides activating the JKD, we are also seeking opinions from Syariah lawyers to help reclaim encroached land,” he explained.
He emphasised that this approach not only complies with the law but also takes into account social harmony and racial and religious sensitivities. The JKD plays a role in achieving cooperative solutions without forcing landowners to take immediate legal action.
In addition to unauthorised places of worship, land encroachment issues in Selangor also involve illegal plantations and unlicensed factories. The state government is committed to ensuring comprehensive enforcement is carried out fairly, orderly and wisely.
This statement is in line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the state government in February following the Rawang incident, which requires police reports and court orders before any eviction action can be taken. This approach aims to prevent any self-enforcement actions that could trigger tension.
The Selangor government remains committed to preserving the state’s harmony and stability through fair and responsible resolutions.
