Viral balloon twister selected for Umrah 1000 Asnaf 1448H
KUALA LUMPUR, 2 March 2026 – Ikhlas Com Travel & Umrah Sdn Bhd (ikhlas.com) is sponsoring Umrah for viral balloon twister “Abang Mr Bean”, who captured public attention through his story of making a living as a street entertainer by impersonating the well-known comedy character from Mr. Bean.
The ikhlas.com production crew, together with influencer Edin Komeng, had initially planned to purchase all the balloons sold by Mohd Nizam Mohamad Idrus, 49, who offers them at an “ikhlas” price — allowing customers to decide how much they wish to pay. There is no fixed price, only trust and sincerity.
After obtaining management approval, they delivered the good news to Mohd Nizam and his wife, Suraya Zulkifli, 49, that they had been selected as the recipients of the Umrah 1000 Asnaf sponsorship by ikhlas.com.
“I am deeply touched. I never expected that at the beginning of Ramadan, I would receive such a surprise from ikhlas.com. Everything we have gone through together in our journey of life — I feel that Allah SWT has rewarded us in ways we never imagined. Umrah is not only for those who can afford it. When Allah calls you, nothing is impossible,” said Mohd Nizam.
The Umrah 1,000 Asnaf programme was launched on 19 March 2025 in conjunction with ikhlas.com’s 5th Anniversary celebration. The initiative aims to empower local communities to identify deserving asnaf individuals and help realise their dream of performing Umrah. It aligns with ikhlas.com’s mission to make Umrah accessible to all Muslims, including those who are underprivileged, at least once in their lifetime. The next departure for 1448H umrah season is scheduled for after the upcoming hajj season.
