KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA March 1, 2026 — The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) has busted two elite entertainment centres in the small industrial area of Kepong with a late-night raid, detaining 107 foreign nationals for immigration offences.
The operation, codenamed Ops Gegar, was launched by JIM’s Intelligence and Special Operations Division on February 27, 2026, starting at 11:00 pm. It was triggered by public complaints and two weeks of intensive intelligence gathered by the Special Tactical Team (PASTAK).
Officers screened 224 individuals inside the two premises — 171 foreigners and 53 Malaysians. Initial checks resulted in the immediate detention of 107 foreigners who had no valid travel documents or passes to remain in the country.
The detainees comprise:
• 65 women and 3 men from Thailand
• 18 women from Vietnam
• 11 men from Bangladesh
• 7 women from Laos
• 3 women from Indonesia
Several items believed to be used in the running of the premises were seized, including payment chips, necklaces, computer sets and closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems.
Intelligence revealed the venues were tightly guarded by security personnel. The foreign women were reportedly managed by coordinators known as “mummies” who arranged customer services and stage performances. Payments were handled through a coloured card system with rates ranging from RM100 to RM1,314.
All 107 detained foreign nationals have been sent to the Lenggeng Immigration Depot for further action. Seven Malaysian nationals were issued notices to appear at the Immigration Office to assist in the ongoing investigation.
JIM stressed it will not compromise and will continue to take firm action against any parties violating the Immigration Act 1959/63, Passport Act 1966, Immigration Regulations 1963 and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM).
The department urged the public not to get involved in or conspire in any illegal immigration activities and encouraged anyone with information to come forward to help strengthen enforcement efforts.
