RIYADH February 28, 2026 – His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, received a telephone call from President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday.
According to an official statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and shared via its English-language account @KSAmofaEN, the two leaders discussed “serious developments in the region and the repercussions of the ongoing escalation on its security and stability.”
President El-Sisi conveyed Egypt’s complete solidarity with the Kingdom and explicitly affirmed Cairo’s support for all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its sovereignty, security and stability in response to “the blatant Iranian attacks against the Kingdom today, which undermine regional security and stability.”
The phone call comes hours after Saudi Arabia confirmed that Iranian missiles targeted Riyadh and the Kingdom’s Eastern Province earlier on Saturday. Saudi defences successfully repelled the strikes, which the Foreign Ministry described as “blatant and cowardly.” Similar Iranian attacks were reported against US military installations and infrastructure in several Gulf states, including Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Regional analysts view the Saudi-Egyptian coordination as a clear signal of unified Arab resolve amid the rapidly escalating crisis that began with US and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets earlier the same day.
This latest diplomatic engagement reinforces the longstanding strategic partnership between Riyadh and Cairo and their shared commitment to safeguarding Arab national security against external threats.
