CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS February 27, 2026 – The U.S. Department of State on Friday shared a video clip of President Donald Trump addressing the Iran situation, stating that America faces “a big decision to make that’s not easy.”
In remarks delivered during an energy policy event in Corpus Christi, Texas, Trump said:
“We have a big decision to make that’s not easy. I’d rather do it the peaceful way, but I want to tell you that these are very dangerous and difficult people.”
The official State Department post on X (formerly Twitter) quickly drew attention amid ongoing high-stakes nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran.
Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration with the pace of talks, telling reporters earlier Friday he was “not happy” with Iran’s negotiating position and warning that Tehran “cannot have nuclear weapons.” He stressed a preference for diplomacy but left open the possibility of stronger measures, saying “sometimes you have to” use force if necessary.
The comments come as the U.S. has conducted its largest military buildup in the Middle East since the 2003 Iraq War, including aircraft carrier deployments and other assets positioned in the region. Recent rounds of indirect talks in Geneva have yielded little visible progress, with the next session scheduled for Monday in Austria.
Iranian officials have dismissed U.S. claims about its nuclear and missile programs, while opposition voices inside and outside Iran have amplified calls for regime change, citing reports of recent unrest and crackdowns that have reportedly left thousands dead.
The Department of State’s decision to highlight Trump’s Texas remarks underscores the administration’s view that the Iranian regime remains a significant regional and global threat. No final decision on military action has been announced, and further talks are expected in the coming days.
Trump’s team continues to push for a “meaningful” deal that would permanently dismantle Iran’s nuclear ambitions and curb its ballistic missile program and support for proxy groups.
