SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan — Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof visited the Imam Al-Bukhari Complex in Khartang, approximately 25km from the historic city of Samarkand, on June 22, 2025.

The visit, made at the special invitation of Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Energy, H.E. Umid Mamadaminov, highlighted the ongoing restoration efforts at the site, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The complex honors Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari (810–870 CE), the revered Islamic scholar and compiler of Sahih al-Bukhari, a foundational text in the study of Islamic hadith. It serves as a significant center for Islamic scholarship, housing the mausoleum of Imam Al-Bukhari, a mosque, a library, and a research institute.
The site attracts scholars, spiritual seekers, and pilgrims from around the world, fostering intellectual and spiritual exchange.
Fadillah expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit, describing the complex as a testament to the invaluable legacy of Islamic civilization. He praised Uzbekistan’s efforts to preserve the site and hoped the visit would inspire others to emulate Imam Al-Bukhari’s dedication, sincerity, and piety in preserving the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings.
