PUTRAJAYA, Sept 2 — A former minister in his 60s arrived at the Magistrate’s Court here at 10.25 am today for remand proceedings linked to the Tabung Haji (TH) Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report.
He was wearing an orange Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) remand shirt.
MACC arrested him at about 4.30 pm yesterday at its headquarters, where he had gone to have his statement recorded. The case is believed to involve a hotel lease linked to TH in Saudi Arabia.
The RCI report, released on July 29, flagged weaknesses in TH’s management and operations from 2014 to 2020, listed investments that need a forensic audit, and cited suspicious transactions and concealed information.
His identity has not been officially released.
