KUALA LUMPUR, May 1, 2026 – UMNO President Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed delight over the strong participation of young Malaysians on the opening day of the party’s 80th anniversary celebrations.
In a post on X, the Deputy Prime Minister noted the impressive attendance, particularly among youths, with long queues forming at the membership registration counters at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
“Alhamdulillah, the first day of the UMNO 80th Anniversary Celebration is complete. I am excited to see so many young people attending. I saw the line at the membership registration counter was quite long… some registering as new members and others coming to collect the special commemorative membership cards for this celebration. Alhamdulillah,” Zahid posted.
He extended an invitation to the public to register as new members or collect the limited-edition commemorative cards on the second day tomorrow at WTCKL.
The five-day UMNO 80th anniversary event, running from May 1 to 5, 2026 at WTCKL, features a packed programme including the 2026 Bumiputera Education Congress, the UMNO 80 Years Convention, education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) exhibitions, academic forums, and activities organised by the party’s Youth, Wanita, and Puteri wings.
The milestone celebration is seen as a platform to strengthen the party’s engagement with the younger generation under the theme of unity, loyalty, and service.
