KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 2026 — Police have detained seven Yemeni nationals to assist in investigations into a dangerous driving incident involving two cars along Jalan Sungai Besi early yesterday.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the men, aged between 23 and 26, were arrested in the capital and have since been released on police bail.
Preliminary investigations found that the incident took place at about 12.30am on Aug 28 as the two vehicles were travelling along Jalan Sungai Besi towards Jalan Bukit Bintang.
“Passengers in both vehicles were seen leaning their bodies out and dangerously sitting on the window frames while the vehicles were in motion,” he said in a statement today.
Five of those detained are students at a public university in Kedah, while the other two are university graduates.
Mohd Zamzuri said police questioning revealed that the stunt was carried out merely for fun in celebration of a friend’s wedding.
The case is being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code for a negligent or rash act endangering human life or the personal safety of others. Upon conviction, the offence carries a penalty of up to three months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM500, or both.
A video of the incident earlier went viral on social media, showing passengers in the two cars leaning out and sitting on the window frames as the vehicles moved along Jalan Sungai Besi.
