CYBERJAYA May 4, 2026 — Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari visited the Sumud Nusantara Command Center (SNCC) yesterday to receive the latest briefing on the Global Sumud Flotilla 2026, with a special focus on the safety of Malaysian participants involved in the international humanitarian mission.
The Global Sumud Flotilla is a large-scale civilian-led effort involving more than 100 vessels aimed at delivering aid to Gaza and challenging the ongoing blockade.
During the visit, Amirudin was updated on several critical developments:
- Ten Malaysian activists who were previously detained have safely arrived in Türkiye from Greece on May 1. They are now in stable condition after undergoing health screenings.
- Of the 21 vessels that were illegally detained, three were successfully towed by the Open Arms ship from Barcelona and are reported to be in very critical condition.
- One vessel, identified as the Goleta, has sunk, with suspicions that it was the result of sabotage by Israeli forces.
- Seventeen other ships remain at sea, with ongoing efforts to ensure their safety and rescue.
Amirudin strongly condemned the interception of the aid vessels and the detention of humanitarian activists in international waters, describing the actions as a serious violation of international maritime law and the principle of freedom of navigation.
He reiterated support for Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s firm position, alongside international partners including Spain, Türkiye, the United Nations (UN), and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in denouncing these violations.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that two key leaders of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), Thiago Avila and Sayf Abukeshek, have been detained and brought before an Israeli court. He called on the global community to strongly condemn the actions of the Zionist regime and to put an end to the oppression of humanitarian mission participants.
“Rakyat Malaysia diseru untuk terus bersuara. Setiap suara, setiap doa, setiap usaha adalah sebahagian daripada perjuangan besar kemanusiaan ini,” Amirudin said in his statement.
He concluded with the call: “Break The Silence! Break The Siege!” while tagging the hashtags #FreePalestine #SumudNusantara #GlobalSumudFlotilla.
The visit was followed by a special media briefing on the latest developments of the mission.
Life News Agency will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates on the Global Sumud Flotilla 2026.
