IPOH July 19, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim today officiated the Majlis Peluncuran Bulan Kebangsaan dan Kibar Jalur Gemilang (MPBKKJG) 2026 at the Institut Latihan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia Sultan Azlan Shah (ILKKM SAS) in Ipoh, Perak.
The ceremony marked the official start of the National Month celebrations for 2026.
In conjunction with the event, the theme song for Sambutan Hari Kebangsaan dan Hari Malaysia (HKHM) 2026, titled “Aku Berjanji” and performed by Faizal Tahir, was played publicly for the first time. The song carries messages of togetherness, unity and the spirit of love for the nation in the effort to defend the sovereignty of the country.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Communications through the Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN) in collaboration with the Perak State Government. It featured traditional drumming performances of Melayu, Cina, India and Gong Borneo by students of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), as well as a choir performance of patriotic songs by trainees of ILKKM SAS together with artists from PENTARAMA JAPEN.
Earlier in the morning, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications, YBhg. Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, flagged off more than 2,000 participants of the Larian Patriot Merdeka.
Also held was the Program Kita MADANI, which included various activities such as the Exhibition on Nationhood by JAPEN, Wellness on Wheels (WOW), a dental clinic and NADI on Wheels (NOW). The programme was implemented through strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Yayasan Bina Upaya Darul Ridzuan.
MPBKKJG 2026 marks the beginning of Sambutan Bulan Kebangsaan 2026. In this regard, the people are urged to jointly express their patriotic spirit by flying the Jalur Gemilang at their respective premises and supporting the various patriotic programmes organised by ministries, departments, government agencies, the private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) nationwide.
Also present were the Menteri Besar of Perak Darul Ridzuan, YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani bin Mohamad; the Minister of Communications who is also Chairman of the Main Committee for the Sambutan HKHM 2026, YB Dato’ Seri Fahmi Fadzil; the Minister of National Unity, YB Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang; members of the Cabinet; the Chief Secretary to the Government, YBhg. Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar; the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications, YBhg. Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah; as well as senior officials of the Federal and State Governments.
