KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA Dec 15, 2025 – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) welcomes the “Deemed Licence” initiative introduced by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) today, as an initial step to strengthen the governance of digital platforms and enhance online security in Malaysia.
The media statement issued by the Inspector-General of Police, IG Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khalid Bin Hj. Ismail, stated that the current digital ecosystem demands a more responsive regulatory approach to threats such as child sexual exploitation crimes, online fraud, the dissemination of extremist content, as well as the misuse of digital platforms for illegal activities.
This effort is seen as part of a shared commitment to protect the children of Malaysia and ensure they are safe in the future cyber environment.
RMP will also continue to collaborate closely with MCMC and other agencies through the “Whole-of-Government” approach to ensure that the new mechanisms currently being finalised can improve the effectiveness of investigations, strengthen information sharing, and accelerate actions against harmful content or activities in the digital space.
According to the statement, RMP will remain committed to enforcing the law in accordance with current legal provisions and enhancing internal preparedness to ensure that the upcoming digital security framework can be effectively supported.
RMP is confident that the implementation of this new framework will enhance protection for the public, strengthen the integrity of the national digital space, and reinforce cooperation between the government and digital platform providers.
This step also serves as an important foundation in ensuring the safety of future generations, especially children and families, is guaranteed in an increasingly challenging cyber landscape.
