MALAYSIA, Kuala Lumpur, June 22, 2025 – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has strongly condemned a recent report by Sinar Harian that falsely claimed the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), YDH Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khalid bin Hj. Ismail, is affiliated with a local political party.

In a statement issued today at 3:45 PM, PDRM clarified that the IGP has never been a member of, nor held any position in, any political party, dismissing the allegations as baseless and misleading. The force criticized the report for creating false perceptions and undermining public confidence in the nation’s security apparatus.

“The claims are untrue, confusing, and damaging to the credibility of our force,” said SAC Dato’ Kamaruzaman bin Abdullah, Secretary of the Malaysian Police. He rebuked Sinar Harian for its negligence in publishing unverified information, which has tarnished the reputation of both the PDRM and the individual concerned.

PDRM emphasized the importance of journalistic ethics, urging media outlets to verify facts, conduct thorough cross-checks, and uphold integrity in reporting. The force reiterated its commitment to neutrality, integrity, and professionalism, vowing to protect public trust and maintain national security and public order.
