PERLIS, MALAYSIA December 24, 2025 – Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) yesterday announced the immediate Message of three Perlis State Legislative Assembly members (ADUN) from the party, following allegations of their involvement in efforts to withdraw support for Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.
PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, in a statement dated 24 December 2025, informed that the decision was made by the PAS Central Working Committee Meeting based on Clause 76 and Clause 15A(1)(b) of the PAS Constitution (Amendment 2025).
The three ADUNs concerned are:
– Tuan Haji Saad bin Seman (ADUN Chuping)
– Tuan Fakhrul Anwar bin Ismail (ADUN Bintong)
– Tuan Mohd Ridzuan bin Hashim (ADUN Guar Sanji)
PAS will formally notify this decision to the Speaker of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly to comply with Article 50A(1)(a)(ii) of the Perlis Government Constitution Enactment (Amendment) 2022 with immediate effect.
The statement was signed off with the slogan “RETURN TO ISLAMIC SOLUTIONS”.
This decision comes after media reports that eight Perlis ADUNs, including three from PAS and five from Bersatu (a component of Perikatan Nasional), allegedly submitted statutory declarations (SDs) to the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, expressing loss of confidence in Mohd Shukri.
The Perlis State Legislative Assembly has 15 seats, with PN winning 14 in the 15th General Election in 2022 (PAS 9, Bersatu 5) and one from Pakatan Harapan.
If support from these eight ADUNs is withdrawn, Mohd Shukri risks losing his simple majority. However, the expulsion of the PAS members may have implications under the state’s anti-party hopping law, although in cases of party expulsion, seats are typically not automatically vacated.
Bersatu has reportedly submitted names of potential replacements, while PAS insists that the actions of the three ADUNs were taken without party approval.
This crisis adds further tension to the PN government in Perlis, which was formed after a major victory in 2022. Perlis Pakatan Harapan, meanwhile, supports the existing government remaining in place until the end of its term to maintain stability.
