JOHOR BAHRU, May 31, 2026 – Marina binti Ibrahim, Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) for Skudai, has announced her decision not to contest in the upcoming election and to fully retire from the political arena.
In a humble statement released today, Marina said the decision was made after deep discussions with her family and close supporters who have stood by her throughout her political journey.
“With full humility, I, Marina Ibrahim, have decided not to contest and to withdraw from the political arena,” she said.
She explained that it is now time for her to return to what has always been closest to her heart — grassroots community work and serving the people directly, as she did before entering politics.
Marina, who won the Skudai seat in the Johor State Election on 22 March 2022, said she arrived in Skudai with a simple but meaningful hope: to serve the people. She came without great power or a complete team, but with sincere intention and the conviction to carry out her responsibilities to the best of her ability.
“Throughout this period, I have strived to give my very best to the community. If there were any shortcomings, weaknesses, or matters that did not meet the expectations of some parties, I sincerely apologise. I am only human, never free from mistakes and limitations,” she said.
She also expressed her deepest gratitude to the people of Skudai who placed their trust in her, as well as to her loyal team who stood with her through both easy and difficult times.
“I came to Skudai alone, but I was never truly alone. Allah SWT has brought me together with many individuals from various backgrounds, races, and religions. These differences never became barriers; instead, they united us in a bond of kinship built on trust, love, and the desire to do good for society,” she added.
Although stepping away from politics, Marina emphasised that her service to the community will not end.
“The end of one chapter does not mean the end of service. As long as Allah SWT grants me the opportunity, I will continue to contribute to society in whatever capacity I am able,” she said.
She also announced that she will remain committed to carrying out her duties on the ground until the next ADUN for Skudai is appointed.
Marina concluded her statement with prayers for Skudai to continue progressing and for its people to remain prosperous. She once again apologised for any shortcomings during her tenure.
“All that is good comes from Allah SWT, and any shortcomings come from my own weaknesses. Wallahu A’lam,” she said.
Marina Ibrahim’s decision marks the end of her term as Skudai ADUN, remembered for her humble approach and strong focus on grassroots service.
