KUALA LUMPUR June 10, 2026 – Malaysia’s Parliament has rolled out a new Hansard management system developed in collaboration with GovTech Malaysia, marking a significant step in the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The initiative, announced by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, aims to digitise the recording and access of official parliamentary debate records, making them more efficient, transparent, and accessible to the public while reducing dependence on physical copies.
“With the implementation of this system, access to Hansard records will become easier, faster and more systematic, helping to enhance transparency, efficiency and accessibility of information for stakeholders and the public,” Gobind said.
Key Features of the New System
- Simultaneous Multi-Session Searches: Users can perform keyword searches across multiple parliamentary sittings at once.
- Word Cloud Visualisation: A feature that displays debate trends through visual word clouds.
- MP-Specific Filtering: Results can be filtered by individual Members of Parliament.
- Preservation of Official Integrity: The platform facilitates searches and analysis but does not replace the official Hansard documents published by Parliament. All data is sourced from verified official records.
The system forms part of the Digital Ministry’s Whole-of-Government approach to drive Malaysia’s digital agenda under the MADANI framework. Gobind emphasised that the government remains committed to creating seamless digital platforms that leave no one behind in a trusted digital environment.
The launch aligns with ongoing efforts to modernise government services through technology. GovTech Malaysia has played a central role in developing the platform, supporting Malaysia’s ambition to strengthen digital infrastructure and public service delivery.
This development is expected to benefit researchers, journalists, policymakers, and citizens by providing quicker insights into parliamentary proceedings and debate patterns.
The new Hansard system is now available for use, further positioning Malaysia as a forward-looking digital nation in Southeast Asia.
